Why I Love Jesus

Today I was listening to a updated version of a well known song in the "Witness" section of the Salvation Army Song Book (Song 404).

I found myself singing away heartily - to myself - no one else around. What a pleasant (?) sound I made !!

I realised that I have a song to sing and the words sum up my experience of the past weeks/months, and it is also relevant for my life today.

1.
Would you know why I love Jesus,
Why he is so dear to me?
'Tis because my blessed Saviour
From my sins has ransomed me.

Chorus
This is why I love my Jesus,
This is why I love him so:
He has pardoned my transgressions,
He has washed me white as snow.

2.
Would you know why I love Jesus,
Why he is so dear to me?
'Tis because the blood of Jesus
Fully saves and cleanses me.

3.
Would you know why I love Jesus,
Why he is so dear to me?
'Tis because, amid temptation,
He supports and strengthens me.

4.
Would you know why I love Jesus,
Why he is so dear to me?
'Tis because in every conflict
Jesus gives me victory.

5.
Would you know why I love Jesus,
Why he is so dear to me?
'Tis because my friend and Saviour
He will ever, ever be.

Having sung along, I wondered if anybody knows of my experience ? Have I told anyone ? Do I witness to the fact that He is dear to me ? Would others know that He is even in my life ?

I have always tried to show Jesus in my living, and the experience of the past 6 months working with The Salvation Army's Bush Fire Recovery Centre in Whittlesea has been an important part of my development in this area.

I'm looking forward to the next stage of my development working with the Public Relations Department of The Salvation Army - I am hoping that Jesus will be seen in and through me as I come into contact with the people of Victoria's western / country areas.

Another reading I found in an iPhone App - "Pocket Prayer" under the ministry section reads:

Lord, use me as your instrument to minister life, hope, help and healing to others; especially to the non believers. I do not want to be so focused on my own life and overlook your masterplan for me to minister to those around me. Empower the gift that you have planted in me, so that I can fully utlise them.

1 Peter 4:10
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms
